Yesterday I had to take our French Bulldog Emaliyne to the vet. She has been having "episodes" of choking and passing out. Yes it is pretty much as scary as it sounds. This is sort of "typical" for this breed of dog, and really any brachiocephalic breed, but she has just started having them much more frequently.

This picture was very bright (since I had to use the flash) so I duplicated a layer, put in on soft light and ran Pioneer Woman's dim the lights.
She had a full check up and x rays at the vet. They determined that she has~ an enlarged heart~ her spleen is in the wrong place in her abdomen~ what looks like her liver and or a kidney is either really, really big or also in the wrong place~ her spine is F-ed up, like really bad, she has a V shaped spine instead of a curve and she has fused vertebrae and is missing part of her vertebrae near the end of her spine.Since her heart is so large it could be pushing on her trachea and larynx therefore causing the choking and passing out since it can cut off her O2 and her blood supply (since the aorta runs in the same place). They are not sure how much of it is genetic or how much has just started since she has never had an xray done.Right now we are doing benadryl to try and decrease any swelling in her throat and antibiotics in case she has any infection. The next step is an ultrasound and then possibly surgery to fix her soft palate and see what is going on in her abdomen and why things are out of place.GREAT!

Going to the vet is exhausting!

@StephanieYep of course, alone with eveything else, it's always something.
@Ashley Sisk It's pretty sad, she is not the best bred dog but she apparently in worse than we thought.
Aw, the poor dear! I hope she's feeling better soon and that things go well at her next visit.
Ahh, sweet photo! So sorry to hear about the circumstances. Sending lots of well wishes!
