Comedy done right

Yesterday was a trying day in our household. I was not feeling 100%. My husband is back a work (he works a lot and long hours) so it was just me and the little one. Don't get me wrong I love staying at home and I am very lucky that right now we can manage it but sometimes being cooped up in a house with just 3 dogs, 2 cats and a almost 9 month old can start to wear on a person. There is only so much Yo Gabba Gabba and Jack's Big Music Show I can take, plus I don't want TV entertaining my child.

The day started out well enough, she seems to be in a good mood in the mornings, long enough for me to feed her, the dogs, cats and get a cup of coffee. Then once I am done with that she wants my attention. But not just attention she want to STAND! It is her new thing, no crawling, just standing, while holding on to your fingers so she can jump and bounce and not fall down. Which is fine, for a while. However if you decided your fingers are tired and you want to give your arms and back a rest, well that is when the whining sets in. She throws herself on her belly and holds her hands up to you, and since she can't crawl if you walk away or ignore her the only method she has to get your attention is to whine louder. It is quite obnoxious.

and then, she {snapped}
She also does not like sitting on the couch anymore. We use to be able to snuggle and just chill on the couch. Now she is rolling and refuses to sit up for some reason. She only wants to remote, or my camera and she knows how to push the buttons so the TV changes channels or she turns the volume up really loud and then she whines when you take it away. Plus the whole time she is throwing herself forward and almost catapulting off the couch.

(sorry for the horrible picture, I didn't feel like getting up and getting my camera so this is with my point and shoot and ::gasp:: a flash)
So this was our compromise by the end of the day. She gets to stand and chew on the coaster that sits on the coffee table and my poor fingers and back get a much needed rest. Oh and I forgot to mention she loves to whine when I go to change her diaper. As soon as she sees the changing table she starts and nothing I do can stop it. She is also constantly rolling and trying to fling herself off of the table. I tell you this because yesterday she was being extremely wiggly and she had just had a really mess diaper, if you know what I mean. I was trying to hold her still, clean her up, and get a new diaper on. I went to throw the wipe in the trash (we cloth diaper so we have to toss the wipes instead of wrapping them in the diaper) and she was trying to turn over and I accidentally dropped the poopy wipe on her head. Yeah, bad day. We went right to the bath but that just sums up my bad day. Sorry no pictures of that, but only because I don't have 3 arms and my camera was out or reach.

Also my child likes to chew on her snot sucker and stick her finger up her nose while sitting in her basket. I know you are jealous!

So how did I deal with yesterday you ask? After the kid when to bed ::cue angels singing:: I made oven smores and spent the night watching Thursday night comedy via TiVo. Thank you, The Office, 30 Rock, Outsourced, Parks and Recreation, and Community for making my day better, oh and peanut butter, graham crackers, chocolate chips and marshmallows.
