Did I shave my legs for this?

Man I use to love that song. I mean back in my country days. Well, and in college where we spent many a weekend at Desperado's dancing up a storm. I even taught my roommates how to line dance. So anyway yep I finally did, shave my legs that is. It may not sound like much to most of you but shaving (my legs at least) is not something that I would do regularly. At least since I met, uh I mean since the day I got married (Hi mom) to my husband. He just doesn't care/notice if I haven't shaved in a few days, or a few weeks, or in this case a few months. This time however I think I let it go on a little to long. These babies have been growing since the week before Christmas. Yep over 2 months now. Just typing that gave me a little pink tint to my cheeks. I remember how long only because I went into the salon to get a pedicure right before Christmas since my grandma keeps her house so effing hot I knew I would be walking around with bare feet and I wanted them to be presentable. I can't stand for them to be touching my legs and for them not to be smooth. Unfortunately that same thought has not translated into shaving for my husband. However the other night I noticed as my legs were up in the air, well during one of those times that ones legs are up in the air, that holy crap I could actually see my hair braiding itself on my legs. Goodbye libido. All I could think was GROSS. So I shaved, and man it was nice. So nice that I actually woke myself up last night when my legs rubbed together because they were so smooth. I was all, What the heck is going on. Oh right my legs don't have any hair on them LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO BE. So the moral of this story. I am going to shave my legs, for myself and for my husband on a more regular basis. I just hope the growing belly doesn't get in the way.

nursery decorations

I'm super excited. I have looking all over for a bird mobile to hang in Addison's room. I didn't want a mobile that attaches to the crib and plays music, just one that hung from the ceiling. I have been keeping an eye on Etsy.com for a cute one, but the hand made ones on there are so expensive, and there are so many other things I can think to spend that money on. I decided the other day to take a look on Ebay and I found one that actually goes with her bedding. It is from Pottery Barn, but they just don't make it anymore so it is not on their website. Not only that, I got it for 19 bucks!!! I finally got it in the mail and it is just what I wanted! I can't wait until I get her whole room done.

I also ordered the letters for her room today. I got them off of Ebay from a seller named tonifrg. I ordered them in the same font as the name below, and I just ordered them in white with a pink ribbon to hang them.

I decided to go with a basic white letter because I found this really cool artist on Etsy, The Funky Monkey Boutique that can paint things to almost perfectly match the bedding I am using. She makes letters, but I thought that was a little overwhelming so I am going to get nail head covers to hang the letters from. She doesn't have any pictures up of the nail covers in the bird design, but judging from her other work they are going to be great!

What's happening with Judas week 26

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. She may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. She's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of her lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when she's born and takes that first gulp of air. And she's continuing to put on baby fat. She now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy (nope) , his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days. ~babycenter

Happy 10 th birthday Bossman

Happy (late) Birthday Bossman!!!!
Yesterday was the Bossman's 10th birthday.
With all the health issues he has been having we were not sure he would actually make it to this birthday but we are very happy he did. (Thank you Predinsone!)
We celebrated the day by making him a big old slab of salmon for dinner (you were expecting steak perhaps? He probably would have enjoyed that to if he was not very allergic to it)
Love ya big boy!

1/24/2010

My little Peanut,
Today was your due date. The day that you were suppose to come into this world. I am so grateful for the short amount of time that I got to carry you, and my heart aches for all that you never will get to experience. As I sit here remembering you, your sister is busy kicking and squirming in my belly. In no way will she ever be able to replace you, my first, but I know that having and losing you has made me a stronger, better person and will hopefully make me a better mother. Your loss has taught me so much, things that I can not even put into words. You are and will always be such a blessing to me. Continue to watch over and protect your little sister and know that we will never forget you.
We love you so much my little Peanut,
Your Momma always and forever.

What's happening with Judas week 25

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture. ~babycenter

How far along? 25 weeks
Total weight gain: 8lbs as of last Dr. visit
Maternity clothes? Yes

Best moment this week: People are starting to ask me if I am pregnant. I think this is so much fun!
Movement: Yep every day. She really likes to kick me way low near my cervix.
Gender: Girl!
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out? In
What I miss: Sleeping a full night an not having to get up every 2 to 3 hours to go to the bathroom and turn over.
What I am looking forward to: Being able to see her move from the outside.
Weekly Wisdom: ??
Milestones: Another week behind us

Crap and crossed

Crap crap CRAP, I just broke the wire in my favorite bra! I guess this is a sign that I need to get some new bras ASAP. I am still wearing the bras that I wore pre pregnancy. Maybe that is why it snapped, I'm surprised it lasted this long. However I am now stuck at work for another 4 hours with a broken under wire. Not.Fun.

On another note I am super nervous at this moment. I spent the weekend looking over our budget (AAHHHH S$@%) and came to the conclusion that we Can.Not afford daycare with the amount of money we are making at the moment. Unfortunately I work in research in a grant position which equals

you.will.never.ever.ever.get.a.raise.
ever.so.don't.even.think.about.it.

I wish we could afford for me to stay at home and not work at all but that is just not an option so I spent the weekend (in tears) contemplating the fate of our unborn child and her well being. I came to the conclusion that it is possible for me to go part time (woohoo) as long as my bosses are okay with it. It would mean that 2 of my (smaller) funding sources at work would be gone, but with those two jobs gone I would be able to get all my work done in 25 to 30 hrs. I am crossing fingers, toes, everything that this option works out or we will be up s#@$ creek without a paddle. I have sent in the written proposition to the head honchos but I am not sure how long it will take them to make a decision. So for the 2 or 3 days I would be at work my husband would be able to take care of Addison since he works 4 day on 4 days off. I could also use my MIL or my sister or someone else in a pinch. Please, please, pretty please let this work out.

I have to thank Natalie for getting me thinking about this with a comment she left on my blog about not giving up on being able to stay at home with Addison if that is what I really wanted. SHOUT OUT to her! Hopefully it will work out.

bedding

So I thought I would share the bedding that I have picked out for our little one. I say I because my husband has expressed his desire to stay out of the decorating of the nursery, or really anything that has to be with decorating unless it involves his man room.
So here it is!

This is the bumper and crib skirt I am going to go with, not in this color though.

A closer look at the bumper. The color I have chosen is below, it is a bright pink color.

This is the color for the bumper and crib skirt. I wanted something with some color, but also something I could mix and match with other sheets and maybe even other quilts and blankets to change things up a bit.

This is the quilt and sheets that I want. I have done the room in a bird/tree theme and I thought this went really well with that. I have added bright pink birds to the tree that I have in the baby room so it should go together nicely.

These are some of the sheets I have chosen to mix and match with the bumper and skirt.

What do you think?

What's happening with Judas week 24

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts her at just over a pound. Since she's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), she cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon start to plump up. Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon. ~babycenter

How far along? 24 weeks
Total weight gain: 8 lbs total
Maternity clothes? Yep
Sleep: Actually I have slept pretty good this week so no complaints here.
Best moment this week: My husband finally got to feel Addison move on Sunday!
Movement: Yep all the time.
Gender: Girl!
Labor Signs: Thankfully no
Belly Button in or out? In
What I miss: This week hasn't been to bad. Maybe I miss not having to drink as much water when I'm not pregnant. That can be a pain sometimes.
What I am looking forward to: I am starting to help plan my baby shower. I am pretty excited about that.
Weekly Wisdom: Always were comfortable shoes if you are going to be on your feet for any length of time and put your feet up whenever possible.
Milestones: Viability Week!!!

Actual conversation

Here is a breakdown of an actual conversation I had with two of my co workers not 15 minutes ago. Well they were sorta talking over me. I actually had nothing to do with the conversation once it got going. Keep in mind I work IN A HOSPITAL and these coworkers both have PhDs! Granted they are PhDs in visual and ocular medicine but still.

ME: Man I am tired.

CW1: You should take rest as much as possible.

CW2: No, No you should walk around as much as possible. It is bad to take to much rest. The baby will be fine.

CW1: You will have a small baby if you do not take rest. I did not take rest and my baby was 4 lbs. They almost had to put her in a incubator when she was born. I was trying to save up my leave and did not take rest. Go take rest!

CW2: It is not a bad thing to have a small baby, better than having a big baby. You should continue to do whatever you did before but not take more rest. That is bad for your legs.

CW1: No if you don't take rest you baby will not get the nutrition it needs you need to be resting as much as you can, go sit, put your feet up. You don't want to have a small baby it is bad to have a small baby. It needs the nutrition.

CW2: Women here in America have babies that are to big. Both of my wife's babies were 6 lbs. In India 5 to 6 lbs is normal. It is not good to have a 9 or 10 lb baby. You need to keep walking it is good for you.

ME: Well I think I will follow my doctors advice and continue to walk and rest.

I walked away at this point and they continued to discuss the merits of walking verses taking rest on the baby. Hilarious if you ask me!!!

*By walk around I think he means move around as much as possible, not actually just walking around but doing normal activities. Some times it is difficult to understand the actual English translations. Taking rest refers to actually laying down and not moving.

Viability week beotches

I am chugging headlong into week 24, AKA viability week! This has been a big (in my head) goal for me to reach. I am not sure if my reaction to the milestones in my pregnancy are a normal reaction. I don't think anyone who has lost a pregnancy can have a normal reaction to a subsequent pregnancy. I have spent my entire pregnancy waiting for the next "big" milestone. The next "I'll be able to relax" once we reach _____ time.
First it was once we get through the chemical pregnancy time frame,
then seeing the heartbeat on the ultrasound,
maybe once we get past the week we lost Peanut,
then came the end of the first trimester,
maybe when I start to show I will feel better,
as long is everything looks good on the anatomy scan everything well be great,
once she starts to move I can breath a sigh of relief,
24 weeks and she will be able to possibly survive if something was to happen,
but really the relief only lasts for a few days and then the stress and anxiety start to build up again.
I thought that once she started to really move I would feel a ton better. It does make me smile every.single.time I feel her move. However it is the times she is not moving that are now so stressful. She tends to move the most in the mornings and the early afternoons. There are times at night when she doesn't move at all. It is those times that I sit so still just willing her to move so I know everything is okay. The other day I was out to lunch with a friend that was in town, along with my husband and my sister. When we sat down to eat I realized that I hadn't felt her move. I literally sat there for 10 minutes staring at my food and when she finally moved I said rather loudly "Finally!"
I know this feeling is not going anywhere, for a long long time. I tend to be a worry wort in general but wow this pregnancy has really kicked it up a notch or 500. I guess I should try some yoga or something. I mean that is suppose to help with stress right?
SO anyway the whole reason for this post is, 24 weeks BEOTCH! On to the next milestone.

What's happening with Judas week 23

Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking (she really needs to get use to this in our house) or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb. ~babycenter

How far along? 23 weeks
Total weight gain: 4 lbs in 1 month EEEKKK. 8 lbs total, the doctor didn't seem worried. He said I was doing good.
Maternity clothes? Yep
Sleep: Well my hips are doing great at falling asleep the rest of me not so much.
Best moment this week: Every moment that I feel her moving is the best moment of the week.
Movement: Yep, hopefully soon my husband can feel it too. She likes to stop moving when she feels anyone trying to feel her moving. She is stubborn!
Gender: Girl!!!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
What I miss: This week it was having a nice glass of champagne on New Years.
What I am looking forward to: When the hubs can feel her moving about.
Weekly Wisdom: Drink lots and lots of water, lots!
Milestones: I realized a few days ago that I no longer feel sick every day. That might have something to do with the weight gain but I think that is a great milestone!!!

update

So I have been super busy (sleeping on the couch) and have not had the time (well the motivation) to actually get up and type up a blog entry. I thought about it a few times (okay maybe once) but now that I am back at work I decided it is time to catch up.
I have had a friend in visiting from out of state and we spent A LOT of time lounging around the house in our pjs and watching movies and tv. It was great. Probably one of the best New Years of my life. Not counting the first year my husband and I were dating we decided to go "bar hopping" and ended up at this hole in the wall grinding each other to very loud rap music that we picked on the jukebox. Most of the people in the bar had on either cowboy boots or motorcycle boots but I think they were okay with it since we were such a sight. Then on the drive home (no I was not all that wasted so I drove, and no I don't not condone driving after having anything to drink!) my hubs decided to roll the windows down and put on some Snoop Dogg and hang out the window gangsta style rapping the WHOLE WAY HOME! He has no recollection of any of his actions so he denies it all, but I am not exaggerating in the least! Anyway this is how we celebrated the New Year in my house.

Yum cupcakes and sparkling grape juice!

I also spent the holidays dealing with some family drama.

This is what my brother's girlfriend (now EX) did to his TV with her fist! Cops were called, a domestic dispute charge was filed against her, and the cops escorted her and her belonging out of his house. Fun wake up call from my panicked mother one morning. So now my poor brother is dealing with all the aftermath of that. He has scratch marks all over his arms from her but he did not touch her. I woulda knocked her out but I guess my mother's words about never hitting a girl finally got through to him. To bad he use to smack me around when we were little, guess he grew out of that.
I also neglected to post a 22 week update but here is the 22 week picture. I will resume on Wed with the weekly quiz and update!

Forgive the background I was at the stable and had the camera out taking pictures of the horses and remembered that I had not taken a belly pic yet.
Hope everyone had a great 2009!
